Gamefaqs FAQ of the Month Contest Winner: December 2016

There is currently an issue with the latest update of Google Chrome that makes it so that the links in the table of contents will not function properly. This is an auto-generated table of contents. I didn't make it. I have no control over it. Either Google has to fix this problem, or Gamefaqs has to do something about it. There's nothing I can do. The Table of Contents on the left should work in Chrome 55, and should be used by Chrome users until this issue has been resolved.

    TOC_Version_Info

    Version Info

Version 0.65 - Uploaded 12/14/2016 - I'm about 65% through the main walkthrough by my best guess. It will be finished in a day or two. I'm listing barrels, holes, and hints, as I go - where I find them. Of course, I won't be able to have a full, verified list of these things until I've got them all.

Version 0.82 - Uploaded 12/15/2016 - Continuing work on the walkthrough. Estimated 82% completion of the story walkthrough. I'm uploading updates regularly to assist people in trying to earn the All Talked Out trophy - which as of now no one has gotten. I expect to finish the walkthrough tomorrow.

Version 1.00 - Uploaded 12/16/2016 - Finished the main walkthrough. Added some info about new game + and trophy listings for the game - although those sections are not yet complete. Removed spoiler tags from the headings at the advice of board users. People I asked about the guide didn't feel that the limited hints and dialog in the game warranted spoiler tags.

Version 1.10 - Uploaded 12/19/2016 - Added numbering to holes and barrels for the Collar and Lock, Stock, and Barrel trophies. Added holes that were missing - numbered 8-15 (I just kinda forgot about this trophy halfway through on my first playthrough). Added barrels that were missing - numbered 6, 10, 24, 25, 33, 40, 46, 48. Added multiple missing hints. New hints added will be colored blue or green (the difference is for internal purposes) - in case someone has been following along. After about a week - I'll change the colors of these hints back to black. Expanded some information on trophies, and added a couple of videos for getting some of the individual action trophies. I believe now that I'm missing only about a half a dozen hints. More to come.

Version 1.11 - Uploaded 12/20/2016 - Finished every hint for the All Talked Out trophy. Yes. I have that trophy now. And this guide lists every hint required to earn it.

Version 1.12 - Uploaded 1/4/2017 - Changed the hints to blue - instead of black. I like them being more visible so they're easier to find for trophy hunters. Added a numbered list of all narration and dialog in the game, with links to where they appear in the walkthrough.

Version 1.13 - Uploaded 1/5/2017 - Added Unicode 6.0 characters to the guide for ease of use, to help users find information faster. Fixed all the links in the Hints section to link to the walkthrough.

Version 1.14 - Uploaded 1/6/2017 - Minor formatting changes. Re-adjusted link targets in the hints section to get all the links working properly. Created an alternate table of contents for Google Chrome users to address the current bug in Chrome 55.

Version 1.20 - Uploaded 1/13/2017 - This update essentially finishes this guide. Any further updates, if any, will likely be only cosmetic changes. Minor formatting changes. Expanded the New Game+ section with additional information. Added advice on a few trophies that I hadn't covered in detail. Added a couple of user tips for some problem sections in the game.

Version 1.21 - Uploaded 2/27/2017 - Fixed a bunch of typos. Thanks to Selmiak for proofreading. Added a video for the keep on running trophy - also contributed by Selmiak.

    TOC_SPOILER_WARNING

    SPOILER WARNING

The story in this game is told mostly through the actions of the characters. Therefore it is impossible to create a walkthrough for this game that does not spoil the story to some extent. Even the story narrator only tells you his story with the purpose of giving you hints for what to do next. By telling you what to do next, I will be revealing the story of the game. Understand that if you read this walkthrough, it will spoil some aspects of the story. Use it at your own discretion. I will try to create a guide that you can use without spoiling the story if you're careful - but if you read it word for word, it will contain spoilers for most of the story. If you want to use this walkthrough while avoiding as many spoilers as possible, I strongly suggest reading the How to Use This Guide section thoroughly.

    TOC_How_to_Use_This_Guide

    How to Use This Guide

I would advise you not to follow the walkthrough letter for letter, but rather to only consult the walkthrough when you are stuck and need help figuring out what to do next - or as a kind of a checklist to help make sure you find all of the barrels to feed to Trico, holes to get his head stuck in, hints, etc. I will highlight | barrels | in blue to make them easier to find when scanning the text, and I will use a horizontal rule line break...

...to indicate when you're going to move on past an area with a | barrel | in it.

There's very little point of reference to know what point you're at in the game. The game contains no chapters or names. Therefore, I see no other option but to use the small bits of dialog from the boy and the narrator (a future version of the boy, telling the story) to indicate where you're at in the story.

You should always view this guide as a single page by scrolling to the bottom of the guide and clicking the View as Single Page link.

When you're stuck, hold or while standing on a flat surface to meditate - then use the CTRL + F function to search and type in the hint that the game gives you to go directly to the section of the guide where you're at.

    TOC_Gameplay_Tips

    Gameplay Tips

    TOC_Camera

    Camera

First and foremost, I highly recommend that you turn the sensitivity all the way up in the camera options. The camera is slow to respond and has to pick up momentum to move. Having the sensitivity turned all the way up will minimize this problem and you'll spend less time fighting with the camera.

    TOC_Movement

    Movement

The boy is quite agile and sure footed. While he will often trip over himself and fall while running, he will never fall off a cliff accidentally. You don't need to slow your movement, or be cautious, when moving near a cliff, or when tightrope walking along beams or ropes. In order to fall, you actually have to jump Δ off an edge, or drop down with X.

    TOC_Hints

    Hints

You can receive in game hints by meditating. Hold or while on a flat surface to meditate. The game will give you a hint. However, this will simply be the last hint you already heard. There are other hints that can only be heard by waiting in an area, or running around.

Usually a new hint is only shown by waiting in an area, or running around the area and not properly progressing. Since there is a trophy (allegedly) for hearing every hint, as I find new hints I will highlight them in blue - so that if you're going through the guide after an update you can see new hints that have been added. After a hint has been in the guide for a week or so, I'll change it back to black.

Some hints can be heard in multiple different locations. If I know of more than one location, I'll list the hint in multiple locations with a number next to it to indicate that this is not the only place it shows up. You only need to hear a hint one time. You don't need to find that same hint in multiple locations. In fact, you can only generally hear any individual hint one time during a given playthrough. It's just that there may be multiple possible places to hear that hint.

Some hints are dependent on taking - or not taking - specific actions. Look at the hints in the guide. The instructions in the hint - as well as the location in the guide - should give you some idea what you have to do to obtain that hint. For instance -

    - I decided to withdraw to a safe distance so that it might enjoy its meal in peace.

This hint indicates that it happens when you've fed Trico a barrel at the beginning of the game and he's not eating it because you're close. To trigger this hint, you need to set the barrel next to Trico - and then just stay there until you hear the hint.

    - The beast seemed greatly improved. But it was still unable to move freely--
    - the enormous collar about its neck saw to that.

    - I resolved to free the beast.

These hints indicate that you didn't remove Trico's collar. To trigger these hints, you need to just wait around after feeding Trico and removing the spears - but not remove the collar.

To get the hint, look at what it's telling you to do - and don't do it. Then the game will need to give you a hint for how to progress.

    TOC_Barrels

    Barrels

In addition to the locations listed in my walkthough, a near by barrel will be indicated by glowing blue butterflies. When you're close to a barrel, blue butterflies will start flying around in front of you. The closer there are to the barrel, the more butterflies there will be. You can use this to help you spot barrels in the game.

    TOC_Trico_Commands

    Trico Commands

At a certain point in the game, you'll gain access to a list of commands for Trico. There are generally always 2 commands that will get Trico to perform most (but not all) actions. Given enough time, he'll often figure out what to do on his own - but this will leave you waiting in an area for several minutes or more, waiting for Trico to figure out where to go and what to do.

You can generally point to where you want Trico to go with + to get him to command an action. If it's difficult to point to where you want him to go, you'll need to pick the appropriate action between jump + Δ, action + O, or rarely, attack + . The heel command + X is mostly useful for getting Trico to stay in a specific spot.

More information on Trico's commands is given in the walkthrough when you reach the area in the game where you unlock the commands.

    TOC_Game_Script_Walkthrough_Links_Hints

Game Script / Walkthrough Links / Hints

All hints are now listed, and I believe all links are working. Use CTRL + F for the search function, and type in the most recent hint or dialog and then click on the link to find the section where you're at in the game. This section can also be used as a checklist for the hints required for the All Talked Out trophy.

    1. "Be among the chosen ones..."
In my dream, I was flying. Flying through the darkness...
    2. I awoke to find myself in a strange cave.
    3. I noticed with a start that I was not alone.
Beside me lay a great man-eating beast-- "Trico."
I did not know how, why, or when it had happened--
but my skin was covered with peculiar markings.
      Where...?
      Where am I...?
    4. I thought that I was still dreaming...
I believed that I would soon wake...
    5. The beast was far from happy.
It seemed greatly pained by the spears that pierced its flesh.
    6. I decided to help it. To try to pull the spears from its flesh...
    7. In its pain, the poor beast was wary.
I felt that my best option would be to withdraw and reconsider.
    8. The beast was highly agitated. It seemed unwise to approach.
I decided it best to withdraw and consider my options.
    9. The beast seemed more than a little wary of me.
I decided it best to withdraw and consider my options.
    10. I wondered if the beast might be hungering for something...
    11. It was wary and would not allow me to approach the spear.
    12. Are you...hungry?
I suspected that the great beast had not eaten in some time.
    13. It was staring longingly at a nearby barrel...
    14. The beast seemed reluctant to eat with me so close by...
    15. I was a little surprised.
I had not imagined for a moment that the beast could possibly wolf the barrel down whole.
      Want some more?
    16. Thinking it unwise to upset the beast any further, I decided to withdraw.
    17. I decided to withdraw to a safe distance so that it might enjoy its meal in peace.
    18. I wondered if its hunger might not yet have been satisfied.
    19. I decided to go in search of more barrels.
    20. My offerings appeared to have sated the beast's appetite--
but it was still in pain, and could not stand.
      Does it still hurt?
    21. The spear in its right shoulder prevented it from standing.
    22. I did my best to remove the spear.
    23. The beast seemed greatly improved. But it was still unable to move freely--
the enormous collar about its neck saw to that.
    24. I resolved to free the beast.
    25. There. Is that better?
    26. Having thoroughly explored the area--
I clambered onto the beast's back--
and made my way toward the source of the white smoke.
    27. This mirror, with its mysterious light...
It was made from a substance I had never seen before.
It seemed important. I decided to...borrow it for a while.
    28. The beast at my side, I raised the mirror...
    29. The lightning that flew from the beast's tail took me greatly by surprise.
Could it really have been summoned by the mirror?
    30. Though assailed by doubts--
I thought that if I could harness the destructive power of the beast's lightning--
Perhaps we might find a way out. It seemed foolish not to try.
    31. I had heard of these great man-eating beasts many times from the elder.
Yet in spite of the terrifying tales, I felt no fear. None at all...
    32. You don't like water?
    33. My friend seemed reluctant to swim.
I wondered if I might tempt the beast with one or two of its beloved barrels...
    34. Well, this is good-bye. I must go home to my village.
      Farewell!
    35. No! Stop following me!
      Go home!
    36. We had escaped the dank confines of the cave--
and emerged into a place the like of which I had never seen.
...Oh. You can't fly? Are your wings broken?
I would not realize until much later--
but I was now in the heart of the beast's lair. "The Nest".
    37. It seemed that the door on the far side might be broken--
with the aid of my companion's lightning.
    38. The beast was scared of something...
      Trico? What's wrong?
    39. The glowing mirror, mine when last I looked, was nowhere to be found.
    40. I decided to thoroughly explore the area around the unmoving beast...
    41. Something in the armor's ill-omened air told me to keep my distance...
    42. Trico seemed greatly unsettled after the battle with the suits of armor.
I had to find a way to calm my companion's nerves.
    43. A mysterious aroma hung in the air...
    44. It was trying desperately to squeeze itself through the hole and reach the pot.
    45. The beast was enchanted by the scent of the pot, and would not move.
There was nothing else for it. I would have to try and dispel the heady scent.
    46. I thought you were afraid of the water?
    47. Desperate to calm the beast, I stroked and petted him feverishly.
Thinking back, it seems almost that stroking in different places elicited different responses...
    48. The beast could not find a way forward.
But we had come so far together.
And in so doing, we had developed a bond.
A mutual understanding that offered us a chance of escape...
    49. Wonderful.
    50. The beast had grown accustomed to my company.
So accustomed, in fact, that it began to mimic my movements.
I ran, jumped, capered, and cavorted.
And in so doing, I learned something of what the beast might be encouraged to do.
    51. I searched carefully, convinced that there was something nearby.
    52. I searched carefully, hoping to find a way into another room.
    53. It seemed that my companion was very fond indeed of these pots.
    54. I wondered if I might be able to use the pot with which the beast was so enamored...
    55. The hanging chain appeared to be connected to the door in some way...
    56. What's the matter?
      Are you frightened?
It was a striking design, akin to an eye in shape...
The beast seemed transfixed by it...
and at the same time terrified.
    57. Better now?
    58. Fearful of the symbol in the glass, the beast refused to take another step...
    59. I examined the chain with great interest.
It seemed... different to the ones I had encountered before.
    60. You're still frightened? But it's so far away!
    61. The beast appeared to want to show me the way ahead.
And so I clambered onto its back...
    62. Don't worry! I'll think of something!
    63. Don't worry. I'll be back soon.
    64. The beast seemed suddenly ill at ease. I was worried...
Until I realized that it was merely hungry.
    65. What the...?
      There is more than one...Trico?
    66. Another One? Leave this to me!
    67. I recognized this place...
We had fallen through the ceiling and landed back here.
    68. The beast sat down once more.
I decided to go in search of more barrels...
    69. Having found myself at what seemed to be a dead end, I searched for a way onward.
    70. I wondered if there might be somewhere I could jump to on the beast's back.
My eyes scanned the area for a likely spot...
    71. There was nothing else for it. I would have to try and jump onto Trico's back.
    72. The entire area was alive with the strange aroma that so captivated my companion.
Distracted by the scent of the pot as it was, the beast would not heed my call.
    73. I fell through the air, convinced for that brief moment that this was the end for me--
and then the comforting softness of the beast's back came up to greet me.
    74. I would not be able to leave this place unaided...
    75. I clung on tightly, and together we made our escape.
    76. There was nothing else for it. I would have to go in search of more barrels... 1
    77. I knew what I had to do... I left the beast behind and ran.
    78. The cogwheel on the wall seemed to be connected somehow to the gate...
    79. The beast appeared not to want to enter the water.
I resolved to lead by example...
    80. I could hold my breath no longer. My companion disappeared from sight...
    81. Higher and higher I climbed in hopes of finding my companion...
    82. It was the same beast.
The same one that had sent us back to the bottom of the valley...
    83. Desperately, I searched for a means of escape...
    84. I waited for what seemed an eternity...
    85. By having the beast push the cage, I was able to overcome obstacles.
    86. There was nothing else for it. I would have to go in search of more barrels... 2
    87. The helmet...
Perhaps attaching it to a suit of armor might reveal a way onward...
    88. Quickly! It will be back soon!
    89. It's me.
    90. Be among the chosen ones...
    91. This was the valley known in the ancient tales as "the Nest"...
And if the tales were to be believed...
the only way in or out was from the air...
    92. Though the way was narrow, Trico seemed able to squeeze through.
    93. Trico had flown. Not far, perhaps, but far enough to be certain.
Perhaps when his wings were fully healed...
we might be able to fly further...
      We were so close...
    94. Throwing caution to the wind...
I gave the masked beast's tail an almighty tug...
    95. I had to help my companion. I had to jump.
    96. Perhaps a few barrels will make you feel better?
    97. Exhausted, I fell into a deep slumber...
      Do you feel better now?
You can stand? Oh, thank goodness!
Do you think we can make it back up?
    98. My companion struggled valiantly to resist.
    99. I wondered if there might be a way to destroy the device that troubled the beast so...
    100. Can you fly there, Trico?
    101. At last, having scoured the outside of the tower, I found a way inside.
    102. The plinth seemed almost as if it were made to house the mirror.
    103. The ceiling prevented us from continuing our ascent.
    104. Clambering over Trico's tail, I made my way to the level below...
    105. All that we found was a hole so small that only I could squeeze through.
    106. I know now...
...that this was the master of the valley.
    107. It seemed that the light of the mirror suppressed the great darkness somewhat.
    108. Resolved to face whatever may come, I brought the spinning blades to a halt.
    109. Unbelievably, the tail retained its power even when severed...
    110. There was nothing else I could do.
I had to send the beast away.
      Reluctantly, I said the words.
    111. I doubt it has long to live.
    112. And that is how it ended.
      Our extraordinary story.

    ‌ Walkthrough

    Loading Screen Runes

At the beginning of the game you're shown a strange interactive loading screen with runes. You need to mash buttons on your controller to make the runes go away. The shoulder buttons, face buttons and D-pad buttons all work to eliminate the runes. Once you eliminate all the runes, the game will begin. This loading screen shows up throughout the game if you die, and possibly at other times. It is actually a kind of a tutorial. Later in the game, if you are captured by enemies they will shoot these runes, and you will escape by mashing these buttons quickly to eliminate the runes, just like the loading screens.

I thought that I was still dreaming...
I believed that I would soon wake...

Use the to move and the to rotate the camera. Doing these things will make the prompts go away.

The beast is a Trico. That's what he is, not who he is. But no name is ever given for him, so I will simply refer to him as Trico - like everybody else.

    Hint_5

The beast was far from happy.
It seemed greatly pained by the spears that pierced its flesh.

Trico has a large chain attached to a collar around his neck, and two spears sticking out of him. You cannot reach the collar, or the spear in his shoulder - he will shake you off with his wings, knocking you to the ground - but you can approach the spear in his hind leg.

    Hint_6

I decided to help it. To try to pull the spears from its flesh...

    Hint_7

In its pain, the poor beast was wary.
I felt that my best option would be to withdraw and reconsider.

    Hint_8

The beast was highly agitated. It seemed unwise to approach.
I decided it best to withdraw and consider my options.

    Hint_9

The beast seemed more than a little wary of me.
I decided it best to withdraw and consider my options.

Move to Trico's hind leg and press Δ to jump, and you will automatically grab on to Trico and start climbing him. Move toward the spear, and press O to grab onto it, then hold ↓ to remove the spear.

As Trico struggles in pain he kicks you against a wall, knocking you out.

    You awake at night.

    Hint_10

I wondered if the beast might be hungering for something...

    Hint_11

It was wary and would not allow me to approach the spear.

Trico still will not allow you to approach the spear in his shoulder.

    Hint_12

    Are you...hungry?
I suspected that the great beast had not eaten in some time.

    Hint_13

It was staring longingly at a nearby barrel...

    TOC_Balancing_Barrels

    🏆 Balancing Barrels

This is the ideal place to earn the silver trophy, Balancing Barrels. It's not something you'd normally ever do - but once you know what you need to do, this isn't a particularly tough trophy.

To earn this trophy you need 2 barrels at the same time. There are 3 in this area. Carefully sit a barrel down on a flat surface with O. Then pick another barrel up, move so the barrel is on top of the first barrel, and sit it down with O as well. It may take a few attempts to get the barrels stacked on top of each other.

Once you have two barrels stacked on top of each other, don't move. Press O again and you'll pick the barrels up by the bottom barrel. Then you just need to walk very slowly, by only pressing lightly on until you get the trophy.

To say that I grew adept at balancing barrels would be something of an understatement.

On the other side of the room, there are some stone structures. On these structures there are three barrels you can feed to Trico. You'll have to feed him all three barrels before he will trust you enough to allow you to remove the second spear.

Go to the right side of the structure. Go up the stairs and then press Δ to jump next to the edge and you will automatically grab the ledge above you. Press ↑ to climb up the ledge.

Go to | barrel 1 | and press O to pick it up. You can press to throw the barrel, or walk to the edge and press X to drop it over the edge to the ground, or you can just walk off the edge and you'll drop it as you fall. Pick the barrel up again and move it over and place it near Trico.

    TOC_Lock_Stock_and_Barrel

    🏆 Lock, Stock, and Barrel

This is the first of 48 barrels in the game. If you collect all 48 and feed them to Trico, you'll earn the gold trophy, Lock, Stock, and Barrel. You can collect the barrels over multiple playthroughs if you need - but you must find each individual barrel. It won't do to feed Trico the same barrels over and over.

Feeding Trico barrels will also unlock various costumes you can wear in New Game +. You can just feed Trico the same barrels over and over to unlock these costumes. 96 barrels are required, over as many playthroughs as you need to collect that many, to unlock every costume and option.

I will mark | barrels | with this formatting in the walkthrough to make them easy to find. Each one will include numbering to show the order I found them, and to help you keep track of where you're at in your barrel hunting.

    Hint_14

The beast seemed reluctant to eat with me so close by...

Trico will not eat the barrel until you move away. You need to get the other barrels anyway. Move back over to the stone structure. While you're close to him, Trico will concentrate on you, and his eyes will glow to indicate that he's focused on you. When you move away far enough that his eyes stop glowing, he'll turn his attention to the barrel. As you move away, Trico will eat the barrel whole.

    Hint_15

    I was a little surprised.
I had not imagined for a moment that the beast could possibly wolf the barrel down whole.
    Want some more?

    Hint_16

Thinking it unwise to upset the beast any further, I decided to withdraw.

Return to the stone structure and this time take the stairs on the left. Climb up on the structure on the left like you did before. | barrel 2 | is behind a small wall. There's a small hole in the wall. As you approach it, you'll automatically duck down and climb through the hole. Pick up the barrel and toss it down off the structure as you did before, then take the barrel over and leave it in front of Trico, then move away again and he will eat the barrel.

    Hint_17

I decided to withdraw to a safe distance so that it might enjoy its meal in peace.

    Hint_18

I wondered if its hunger might not yet have been satisfied.

    Hint_19

I decided to go in search of more barrels.

    | barrel 3 | is at the ground level behind a gate. There's a lever nearby. Press O to grab the level, then pull it down with ↓. This will open the gate. Go inside and pick up the barrel on the shelf and return it to Trico, then move away so he will eat it.

    Hint_20

My offerings appeared to have sated the beast's appetite--
but it was still in pain, and could not stand.
    Does it still hurt?

Now that Trico's belly is full, he's feeling a little more trusting. Approach him and jump Δ to grab onto him and start climbing. Use to move around on Trico.

    Hint_21

The spear in its right shoulder prevented it from standing.

    Hint_22

I did my best to remove the spear.

You can remove the spear and the collar in either order. It makes no difference. To remove either one, simply move to it's location, grab it with O, then pull ↓ to remove the spear, or unlock the collar. When you remove the spear, Trico shakes you off, slamming you against the rocks and knocking you out once again.

    Hint_23

The beast seemed greatly improved. But it was still unable to move freely--
the enormous collar about its neck saw to that.

    Hint_24

I resolved to free the beast.

    Hint_25

    There. Is that better?

When you wake up the next day Trico seems concerned about you. He obviously wasn't trying to hurt you. You can now call Trico to your position by pressing .

You can actually heal Trico's wounds by petting him. Jump on Trico and climb to the discolored feathers where the spear wounds were, then pet Trico with O, and it will heal the wounds and return his feathers to their normal color. This isn't a necessary gameplay mechanic. The discolored feathers don't hurt Trico and don't need to be healed. It's just something you can do if you like.

    Hint_26

    Having thoroughly explored the area--
I clambered onto the beast's back--
and made my way toward the source of the white smoke.

When you're ready to leave, head down through the large cave leading out of the area. At the end of the cave, you'll find another stone structure - this one too tall for you to climb - with white mist billowing down from it. Walk next to the structure and call Trico with , then climb up on him and jump over to the tall structure. | barrel 4 | and | barrel 5 | can be found up here in front of the crack in the wall with white smoke pouring out. Trico sees them too, and will paw at them. Given enough time he can sometimes pull barrel 4 down off the cliff and eat it on his own. Barrel 5 is too far into the crack. You'll have to pull it out before you can proceed.

Eventually, Trico will simply lie down next to this wall and go to sleep and refuse to move until you've completed the next section.

This is a pretty good place to start teaching Trico to catch barrels - assuming he doesn't go to sleep on you.

    TOC_Practice_Makes_Perfect

    🏆 Practice Makes Perfect

There's a bronze trophy Practice Makes Perfect for getting Trico to catch 20 barrels mid-air. This is easiest to do when you're up high like this, though you can also do it while you're on the ground at his level. To get Trico to catch a barrel, pick up the barrel with O, then call Trico with to get his attention. When he's looking at you, toss the barrel toward him with . He usually will have no trouble snatching the barrel out of the air. Wait until Trico's eyes are glowing and he's looking straight at the barrel before you throw it. You may have to practice a few times to get the hang of it.

Later in the game when you learn commands, ordering Trico to sit with + X will make it easier for him to catch the barrels when you throw them. There are 48 barrels in the game, and Trico needs to catch 20 of them for the trophy. You can do this on multiple playthroughs if you need to.

One of the barrels here is blocking a hole in the wall. When you pick the barrel up to feed it to Trico, you'll uncover a small hole that you can climb through. After you finish feeding Trico the barrels, move toward the hole in the wall and climb through. It's a long tunnel. You'll eventually come out into a larger cave on the other side. At the end of this cave there's a crack in the wall. Simply move toward the crack to slide through the crack to the other side of the wall.

You'll come out into a strange blue room with a pool of water. It's obviously cold in this room. The boy shivers in the cold. This cold is what was creating the white mist. On one side of the room is a strange stone sarcophagus, in roughly the shape of a person. On top of the sarcophagus is a round mirror. Move toward the round object and press O to pick it up, acquiring the mirror shield.
