"Can you say best game ever?"

Very few games have such a great history as the Mario franchise. With so many great games under its belt like Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario 64 it's amazing that Mario can still come out with new ideas and become the most innovative game series ever made. Mario first appeared as Jumpman way back in 1981 on the highly successful arcade game Donkey Kong. Mario Bros introduced two-player mode to the Mario series and his brother Luigi.

From then on the Mario series has developed further with Super Mario Bros all the way to the New Super Mario Bros but now Super Mario Galaxy has come forth. Super Mario Galaxy just isn't one of the best Mario games ever but it is one of the greatest games of all time if not the best. Now the story is pretty much the same from Super Mario Bros; Princess Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser and so Mario goes off to save her.

Now if you play Mario games for the story…then I guess you're one of those guys that would rather play 20 seconds and then watch half an hour of cutscenes…*cough*Final Fantasy X*cough* Well let's compare the 3D Mario series (Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy) to Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2 (Lost Levels), and Super Mario Bros 3. Super Mario 64 would be Super Mario Bros since it basically created a genre all its own.

Super Mario Sunshine would be Super Mario Bros 2; not a bad game in fact I really enjoyed the tropical levels of Super Mario Sunshine, but it really didn't do much that the previous installment did. Now Super Mario Galaxy would be Super Mario Bros 3 (ton of power-ups and everything) that really changes the way a genre (which Mario basically created) is played and shall because of that be copied by lesser fellows like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro who can't seem to get an original idea.

The basic controls are pretty much the same as Super Mario 64 but greatly improved upon. You control Mario through many, many different galaxies (and no two are alike). You'll be space jumping small planetoids and doing more traditional platforming on some larger ones like in the Honeyhive Galaxy or the Beach Bowel Galaxy. What really makes this game work is the use of gravity and the game takes advantage of the Wiimote but doesn't abuse them like in other Wii games.

It's fun just to do a long jump and to see the outcome of your jump. Plus Super Mario Galaxy brings back the use of power ups such as Bee Mario, Boo Mario, Spring Mario, and some power ups that are timed; Fire Mario, Ice Mario, Rainbow Mario, and Flight Mario. The power ups are fun and you'll soon find one that you want to use over and over again. Old enemies return like Goombas, Koopa Troopas (back on all four legs too), and Magikoopas and new enemies also make an appearance as well.

You'll use the Wiimote to collect Star Bits which is a game all in itself. And here's the best part; Bowser is actually a villain again! Not just some overgrown lizard chilling in a hot tub while he battles Mario (Super Mario Sunshine). Super Mario Galaxy brings back that villain feeling to Bowser once again that hasn't been around mainly because every Mario spin-off game mainly sport games makes Bowser feel like some Panzie.

The graphics in Super Mario Galaxy are the best on the Nintendo Wii and are hard to beat on any console. The game gives you many challenges in the galaxies; some you'll beat in five minutes others will take half an hour. To beat the game all you'll need are 60 Stars and you'll be able to do that in 8-10 hours but to collect all 120 Stars and unlock a harder mode will take you another 8-10 hours as you collect purple coins and race against a shadow version of Mario.

All you can do is praise this game! If a game ever reached perfection it would be this game. It offers great replay value if you collect all 120 Stars and you'll soon grow in love with Princess Rosalina and wish she would appear in more Mario games besides the spin-off games that never really goes into character development. Sonic the Hedgehog can take a lesson from Mario and learn how to make a great 3D game. Sadly though the only decent 3D game Sonic has is Sonic & the Secret Rings.

Well that should be enough for this. If you didn't get a Wii for the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Sonic & the Secret Rings, or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption then this is the game you have to get a Wii for…and then go and get those three games. Super Mario Galaxy is the best game ever made and if you are still reading this what are you waiting for? Go and play the game!

Score: 10/10

Good: Everything!

Bad: The Spring power-up can be a little difficult to control but overall it's fun and sometimes the camera can be a problem but that's very rare.
