In space no one can hear you scream (with delight)
So, you finally managed to get a Wii huh. One game to get is Super Mario Galaxy, the best Mario game since Super Mario 64.
The game starts off like this. Mario recieves an invitation from Princess Peach to come to the Mushroom Kingdom's Star Festival. Bowser soon crashes the party and steals Princess Peach's castle. He then summons Magikoopa, who then blows Mario into outer space. First off Nintendo, we are tired of Princess Peach being kidnapped and not doing anything. Anyway, Mario wakes up on a another planet and meets a cute girl by the name of Rosalina. She says she will help Mario if Mario helps her recover the power stars that Bowser stole.
The controls are as good as you could have hoped for. You use the Nunchuk to move Mario and press the A button to jump. By pointing the Wii Remote at the screen you can collect Star Bits. In some areas you can use the control pad to move the camera.
Using the domes in Rosalina's Comet Observatory, you can go to different galaxies and find the stolen power stars. As you collect power stars you can go to more and more galaxies. When you can complete certain stages you play the comet for that galaxy. Comets force you to do something special to get a power star. You can beat the game with only 60 stars but, if you're like me you will still try to get all120 stars. Each galaxy is very fun to play and very challenging. There are some stars where you will have to roll a ball around, ride a manta ray, blow a bubble, and collect purple coins.
Most of the stars are very easy to get but, there are only a few that require a bit of skill. Some stars could have been more harder than they were.
Even after you beat the game there's still a reason to keep playing. If you can collect all 120 stars as Mario and beat the game then you can play as Luigi. If you find all 120 stars and beat the game as Luigi you unlock the Grand Finale Galaxy, which is the Star Festival.
Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best Wii games this year. If you have a Wii make sure you get it. Super Mario Galaxy gets a 9/10.
Rating: 4.5 - Outstanding
