Review by Super Bandicoot

"An underrated racing game."

Graphics: They are truly dazzling! They are not even in the slightest fuzzy, and visual slowdowns are rare. The reflections look just like real life. The frame rate is very smooth. The only problem is that the environments are not even close to realistic. But in a racing game, the background isn't that important.

Score: 9/10

Sound: The cop's voices sound very lifelike, but they repeat there speech a lot. The engine noises are great, but a bit higher than you'd expect. I don't like the music, but you can have your own music which really makes the game more fun.

Score: 9/10

Controls: A bit sluggish, but it could be worse. Manual transmission is harder, but it can give better results then automatic if done correctly. Some reviews say there is major delay, but they must be talking about some other game, because the delay is hardly noticeable.

Score: 8/10

Gameplay: One word: great! This has to be the best racing game I've ever played. I love the arcade style engine where you can restart after a crash, and the ability to ram into a corner of another car and spin them out of control. My personal favorite mode is the Be the Cop mode. It is so fun to call in a helicopter and watch your speeder get blown up. In Hot Pursuit and World Championship, you earn points from medals to buy cars and tracks. Free run is a great way to improve your racing skills so you can get more gold medals.

Score: 9/10

Replay Value: This game lasts for a long time. It will take you several months for the average gamer to get gold medals on all the events. And even when you have all the gold medals, the two-player mode lets the game live forever.

Score: 10/10

Comments: Not as good as the PS2 version, but still a heck of a good racing game. The powerhouse graphics and the extremely long life of the game will leave you with your eyes perfectly round and your jaw dropped. The Need For Speed series has always made quality games and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is no exception.

Buy or Rent? BUY!!! You wouldn't get enough done to satisfy yourself in just five days. If you rent maybe you will get one or two gold medals and a few tracks and cars unlocked, but you feel you need to play more. So, buy the game the second you have the money!
