The Gaffer of all manager games...
The words 'Championship Manager' are pretty much famous now in the big world of manager games. Each year, Eidos and SI Games give us the privilege of releasing one of the most enthralling and money worth games ever, and this years edition, Championship Manager 2002/2003 sure isn't a disappointment.
People who are against the manager games are always saying 'What is the sense of bringing out a game each year that is the same?' Let's get one thing straight first. The Championship Manager games are never the same, and that is pretty much guaranteed. Championship Manager 2002/2003 is, in my opinion, the best game in the series, and it's even brought along a few new things. The biggest change in this game is the Transfer System. This edition of Championship Manager has the official FIFA Transfer Window system. Simply, this is ruling in the footballing world that lets team buy other players in a certain amount of time. For example, if you manage a British team, say Manchester United, you are only allowed to buy players from the 1st July to the 31st August, and from 1st January to 1st February. Like real life. It varies with different countries though.
Championship Manager 2002/2003 is one hell of a long game. The good thing about this game is the fact that you are the decider of your future really. When decisions like if you should defend a player or criticize a player come up, the right or wrong decision can easily harm your relationship with the player, even the team sometimes. You can complain to your board of directors or punish a player for bad performances, or even for no reason! It's pretty amazing how in-depth and how smooth this game works, with the matches pretty tense and very cool. A really cool factor of the game is that you can control the main team, the reserves, your team of scouts and coaches, it's really good to see that Eidos and SI Games don't believe in just a small game that concentrates on your team only. One of the best things about this game though is the fact that you can name pretty much any team in Europe or even other continents, and you are able to manage them! It's just that detailed, it's absolutely unbelievable.
If you want a football manager game for the XBox, then look no further, because the king has arrived to a console. Championship Manager 2002/2003 is a definite buy for the budding managers out there! Thank you for reading this review, I hope you enjoyed it.
