Payne To The Max

Max Payne 2, or as i like to call it: Jesus.

CONTROLS: 10/10 | Wow. Payne 1's controls were pretty good but Payne 2 takes them and turns them into excellent ones. They're pretty basic shooter controls (R is shoot, etc.)

Story: 10/10 | Payne 2's story is amazing. It makes sense and doesn't at the same time. At first, it is confusing because you play through flashbacks that seem out of order and you don't know what's going on. Then later it just clicks and the whole story makes sense. And knowing Max Payne 1's story is important too, but if you've never played through it there is a ''Previously'' option where you can see what happened leading up to Payne 2.

Bullet Time Effects: 10/10 | It should be illegal to make effects this cool. Think Max Payne 1's effects times 10. When you are in bullet time, certain effects will change to make the game cooler. For instance, If you run out of ammo in bullet time, instead of reloading all slowly you will do a sexy spin move and see the clip fly out. When you go into Bullet time, the contrast of the area around you changes to look like an old movie, which is cool. If you spend a whole clip on a group of enemies, it will give you a cool spinning effect of the action. And enemies seem to fly around more when being shot in bullet time.

New Features: 10/10 | So many new features just make this game cooler. One of them is the ability to have a primary and secondary weapon. A secondary weapon can be either a molotov cocktail, a grenade, or a melee attack. Secondary attacks are cool because you don't have to switch to a grenade or molotov, then switch back to a gun. Another cool feature is the rag doll physics engine. That means that when an enemy hits the wall, half of his body wont fly through and stay stiff, he will actually bend on whatever he hits. You can have some cool results using this, like juggling enemies and shooting them against the ceiling. Another cool new feature is the fully destructible environments. That i where if you run into a table, you cn knock it down, and use it for cover, or push an explodable barrel into enemies. Also you get to play as a different character, and do escort missions, where you have to protect someone. Also, if you beat the game on the hardest difficulty you get a bonus ending that changes a major part of the plot.

Bad Stuff: The game is a little short, but with all of the new features you are highly likely to play through it a couple of times. Also, the enemies sometimes land funny, but every game that uses the rag doll physics has this problem. Another flaw is that the melee attacks usually don't work, and are really weak.

Sound/Graphics: 10/10 | The new Payne sounds more realistic, the graphics look a lot better, and now the graphic novel cut scenes have real actors. This game was made to have a movie feel, and it works out good.

Weapons: The weapons are good, and there are a lot of different ones to choose from. There are 3 types of shotguns, a couple types of machine guns, 2 kinds of pistols, some sniper rifles, grenades, and molotov cocktails.

Some people may call this game a perfect rental. Yes, the game is short, but you get rewards for playing through it a couple times, and it is one of the best games I have ever played.
