"The Kombat Is Lacking"

This is the supposed new and most improved Mortal Kombat to come. This game uses the three dimensional fighting system that that was used in the previous Kombat. This game includes the usual tournament type fighting towards the final boss. It also includes the standard person versus person kombat, and a Kampaign mode in which you can unlock new items and content. This game also introduces and online play and other types of mini-games to keep you entertained.

In this version of the game you have to do the Konquest mode in order to unlock certain items and abilities in the future. The Konquest mode is quite linear and it is pretty basic. The only thing is that you have to do a lot of searching for some of the more elusive items. This is probably one of the most frustrating parts of the game that really turns people off, and makes you want to quit the game without finishing this potentially good title.

Graphics are probably one of the big highlights of the game. The gratuitous blood and gore make it really seem like they did doing some polishing up. The over all flow of the graphics seem pretty well throughout the entire game. A couple of points there were some noticeable flaws in the textures, and just minor bugs that really don't seem to come up often enough to cause a problem.

Sound in the game is nothing special. Aside from the way some of the fight scenes and such sound, the game does not provide any memorable points were the music makes you feel more in touch with the game like the great games do. The grunts from all of the people kind of get old when you give them an uppercut for the like the 20th time. Like I said, nothing special, but not like you would really expect any of that from an MK title.

The game play is got to be the most variable thing that there is. Some points it is good and some points it is bad. For example, the versus mode works great and makes you want to play more and more. But, to play more and more you really need to play the Konquest in order to unlock some more content, which makes you want to play less and less. The mini-games are a great little aside from the kombat that goes on, and really make it feel like a special game. The online versus mode is really weak though. There are noticeable times when you are playing and it is extremely hard to execute a kombo, one you could do offline with your eyes closed. There just seems to be that much of a delay in the online to tick you off, and make you want to find some other game for online.

The price for which you will pay for this game is probably not worth it. If you are a die-hard fan and you love Mortal Kombat you can get one of the Kollector's editions for some extra money, but if you want the game and don't care about the type you get I would suggest renting it before you dish out the cash to buy the game, just so see if it is really worth it to you.

All in all the game does not provide any points where it stands out and grabs you. If you are diehard Mortal Kombat fan then you should buy the game for sort of continuity. If you are looking for an outstanding fighter, you probably want to look elsewhere.
