Should I set my 360 on its side, or standing upright?
My Xbox 360 is currently laying on its side on the inside of an open shelf (Open in the front, and back, about a 2 inch above until the top). I have noticed that the amount of dust that collects in the vents and holes its rather disturbing (As most electronics are). My 360 is about 1ft - 1.5ft off the ground, in the shelf.
Now, to my question. I have been wondering whether or not to stand it upright (On the ground) or leave it on its side inside the shelf.
I have heard rumors that putting it upright could ruin your games. I don't want this to happen. Also, I am aware of the falling over risk. Myself, along with everyone else, do not want my system to overheat inside the shelf.
Additional info: My Xbox makes a fair amount of noise inside the shelf. At times, it just gets progressively louder. From a small buzz to almost rumbling. (When dusty) Also, I am in fear of the infamous RRoD. Is the liklyhood of this happening increased with either of the positions?
If you could, could you add the Pro's and Con's of each position. Thank you for your time.

I stand mine upright because it exposes one more vent....so it will take longer for it to overheat...but hey its your choice.

Having your console standing upright allows more air to enter your console, keeping the console cooler. However if it falls over whilst running it will most likely scratch any game disc in the console at the time or any disc inserted after this has happened. Having it upright may also cause the disc to fall from the disc tray if it is not inserted in the disc tray properly it wall fall and may damage your disc.
