Wait 1950 in 2077?

  1. The bombs fell in 2077 in the future, theres all sorts of future technoligies, yet the cars, buildings, items and everything else are all old fashioned? Whats up with this?

  1. If you look at the cars they're powered by mini nuclear reactors. which is why they blow up so much. Technically the Fallout world is more advanced but as it's an alternative time line they retained much of the look of the 50's

  3. The official story is that the culture stayed in the 1950's style. In 2077 the war ended with China and the US nuking the world. 200 year later you step out of Vault 101 in the year 2277.

  6. Yeah it's an alternate reality. The Fallout universe split from ours in WWII, and everyone who would have made life what it is like today was probably forced into the war effort. The government managed to seal off civilization from the war with Vaults, at which point the bombs fell and created everyones favorite wasteland...

  8. and actually America was the first to launch the bombs towards China, neighboring civilizations saw the bombs and fired in the direction they came from which started what Fallout calls "The Great War"
