"What a Enchanting Tale"

Introduction: Hey Everyone, lloydirving13/chaosvalentine here. I'm going to be Reviewing Namco Bandai's Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360. Please keep in mind that these are my views of the game and that you should try it yourself before making a final decision on it

Story: 9/10

The story was just what to expect from a Tales game. Exciting, Deep, Funny and Surprises around every corner. You start off playing as Yuri Lowell, He lives in whats called the Lower Quarters of the Imperial City (basically the slums) . One day the Aque Blastia ( a machine that works like a fountain) breaks down because its energy source a "Core" is stolen. So Yuri Pursues the thief and his journey goes on from there. Character Development was very good, I could see the characters changing before my very eyes. The only thing that I didn't totally like was it all boils down to a "save the world" type of story, But it is a JRPG so that kind of thing is to be expected

Sound: 10/10

First I loved the Music in this game, it was just amazing. Motoi Sakuraba really outdid himself this time. The battle theme's really get you in the mood to crush your opponents while the town theme's and world map theme's make you feel relaxed or give you the sense of adventure. The voice acting in this game was very well done too, they really brought the cutscenes to life. Voiced skits from Legendia make a return so you can sit back, listen and enjoy the 200+ skits instead of having to read them. Overall I was very pleased with the acting, this is how it should be done

Gameplay 9/10

The Controls in this game are set up very well and with the ability to customize them just makes it so much better, Battles are not random in this game, you instead touch the enemy to initiate the fight The battle system from Tales of the Abyss makes a return with some small changes. The Overlimit gauge now has 4 levels of charge, there are "Burst" Artes which can be unleashed during Overlimit for nice amounts of damage. You can use "Altered Artes" by equipping the appropriate skills and eventually learn them with enough uses. Skills are a nice addition to the game, you learn skills by equipping weapons and earning LP during battles. Once you've earned enough LP you will have the skill even if you change weapons. My only problem with the skill system is that some skills take way to long to learn, but that's easily solved by doing a tiny bit of grinding. Overall both longtime Tales fans and Newcomers will enjoy the battle system

Of course you will be visiting many towns on your journey and while your there you'll be talking with many people. Sometimes you'll initiate sidequests or maybe just a funny scene, who knows. There's so much to look for in this game, so many items and the synthesis system at stores is simple yet deep. so many things to make and customize, it'll keep you busy for hours. Dungeons are of course another big part of the game, they are very well set up and aren't too long or too short, they seemed to be just the right lengths

Graphics 10/10

The graphics are Cel-shaded and look absolutely beautiful, The dungeons are amazing whether your in the forests or in a crystal cave, You will just love the way everything looks. The towns are very beautiful, one in particular has a beautiful shower of cherry blossoms raining down. This really shows off the wonderful Cel-shaded graphics. There are Anime cutscenes which are very well done and I just don't know what else to say

Play Time/Replayability 10/10

Holy cow there's so much to do in this game, Your first playthrough will take you about 40-50 hours or so and its impossible to do everything on 1 playthrough. With Sidequests, Titles, Items and more to collect this game will keep you busy for awhile. The new game+ mode is very well done as well with a shop that you can purchase such bonuses as Bringing your money over, keeping all your items and weapons or 2x experience. If your aiming to get all 50 of the Achievements then your going to be going through this game at least 3 times. Definitely lots of Replay Value

Final Recommendation

Buy it, definitely. this is most likely the best JRPG on the Xbox 360. If you still need more convincing then try out the demo on the Live Marketplace. It will give you a nice feel of how the game plays. But if your looking for a amazing game that will keep you entertained, busy for hours, then this is your game

My final score is 9.7/10
